The makers of Guitar Hero introduce an entirely fresh and innovative way to experience music and rhythm gameplay. Become the ultimate DJ. View larger. | Innovative turntable controller. View larger. | Multiplayer challenges. View larger. | Music and Gaming Via a Revolutionary Controller Like the music that inspired it, DJ Hero allows players to experience music in a new revolutionary way through through its game-specific controller. Included with the DJ Hero software, the DJ Hero controller is a combination turntable and mixer that immerses you into authentic DJ culture allowing you to scratch, cross-fade, and beat match. The turntable half of the controller features three color-coated buttons used to direct action during gameplay and a realistically rotating turntable. The opposite end of the controller contains the mixer controls in the form of a lateral fader allowing for switching between tracks and mixing, a knob for additional effects and a button for capturing "euphoria," a star power-like point bonus. In addition, the mixer portion of the controller detaches to accommodate left-handed players and contains an out of the way compartment holding a D-pad and conventional controller buttons for easy console navigation. Taken together, both halves of the controller allow players to customize their mix with a variety of effects and samples transforming a face in the crowd into the life of the party. Gameplay Gameplay in DJ Hero is reminiscent to games in the Guitar Hero series. Musical prompts stream towards players on one of three color-coded ribbons; red and blue which correspond to the two tracks that the player is able to simultaneously or individually manipulate, as well as a red one between these two, used to insert samples. In addition to hitting individual notes and samples, players are also challenged to scratch on command by pressing the appropriate button for the track and sliding the turntable up or down as indicated on the ribbon. The game also provides players with a chance to turn back the clock on earlier action via its "Rewind" feature. This ability is monitored via the rewind meter that levels higher with successful play, and and when full allows the player to rewind the song to fix errors in their earlier performance. The reward for precision is the build up of points, which can be temporarily doubled via euphoria power with the push of a button on the mixer end of the controller. Rule the Hottest Parties In the tradition of Guitar Hero, which brought gamers into the world of rock ‘n’ roll, DJ Hero places players in the DJ booth at some of the hottest clubbing scenes from around the globe. Party in venues reminiscent of real world locales from around the globe including an ultra plush and sexy Hollywood Hills style mansion, to an open air beach club in Ibiza. Play Modes Although DJ Hero contains engrossing single player game options, including a career mode, much of the action in the game surrounds its wealth of multiplayer modes. These include both online and offline multiplayer competitive and cooperative modes: including DJ vs. DJ, DJ + DJ and DJ + Guitar. Set List The DJ Hero set list is constructed of 100 songs, crafted into more than 80 two-song DJ mixes. These mixes are the product of both the creative talents of internationally known DJs such as DJ Shadow, DJ Z-Trip, DJ AM and Daft Punk, and the game development team. All songs used are new to the Guitar Hero family of games and are pulled from a wide array of genres, including pop, grunge, soul, R&B, techno, hip hop, and house. |

| I got this game for only $[...] (New) with the game & turntable. I have seen the bundle for about $70 at stores so this is a great deal. The turntable was probably the best condition i have ever seen for a music game bundle. I had bought the Rock Band 2 bundle and the instruments were in great condition except I had trouble hitting the D-Pad and Xbox guide on drums. The game has a pretty good setlist. Great game! |

I've been wanting to play DJ Hero since it launched quite some time ago, but I wasn't willing to pay > $150 or even $100 to try out something new... I already own the whole rock band set and this was just going to be another huge peripheral that I'd have to store somewhere. Anyway, I patiently waited for the price to drop and picked up the game for $40 here on Amazon. It is fun. There are lots of great music mixes - if you are somewhat coordinated you will be having fun in minutes after the tutorial. One thing I didn't know is that you can play several songs with a buddy playing guitar while you use the turntable, so that's a nice option for folks that already own rock band or guitar hero.
Anyway, its easy for me to recommend this game at $40. If you've been holding off, now is a great time to pick it up. |

| This game is great! A fun party piece and the price from Amazon was unbelievable. i purchased it originally at Target and then surfed the net the same day came across it for $30 less and free shipping. Needless to say I immediately ordered it and took the other one back. |

| Purchased this for my husband's bday and got it and it was broke. Nothing like giving a broken gift! The leaderwithin didn't have any refund info so I had to dig the packaging out of the trash to get their return address (they even blacked out their phone number) and I mailed them a letter and then I got an E-mail back within a week. Had to return it on my own and pay $11 shipping (which I won't see that money back) and have been told that once they recieve the pkg they will refund me money. So far this process has taken a month. REALLY dissapointed!!! Will never buy from leaderwithin again. Description was wrong, not gently used...very used and broke! |
Great fun for the whole family!

| My daughter bought this game, and she really likes it. I myself am a professional DJ, and thought I'd give it a try. I found its fun and is truly addicting, the songs and beats are Great, and can keep you busy for a while. Although not as hard and complex as live DJing, it will challenge you and keep you wanting to out-do your last score. I do recommend this game for all ages! |
I love this game

I was surprised how much I enjoyed DJ hero. The renegade edition's stand is a very nice add-on that makes playing more comfortable. The turn table is a high quality accessory that I can't imagine breaking unless you're simply clumsy or rough with stuff.
The Only complaint I have deals with the fade switch. In songs you have to fade the tracks in and out using a shifting switch on the left side of the turn table. This works fine except that when you're playing a song you don't have time to look down so your left hand is set on that switch waiting to shift it left, right, or middle. Middle is the default position but without looking it is hard to figure out where the middle is and you'll often break perfect streaks due to pushing the fade switch just a little over the middle section. There is a slight 'bump' you can feel when you're over the middle but it's not significant and if you're playing a faster song it's super easy to miss. I simply wish they would have made a more defined way to move the switch around. Considering there are only 3 spots it can sit there was almost no reason to make a free sliding switch. |

| I bought this bundle and extra turntable all for $50 , which is a lot cheaper than when it was released. Its a great game for people who enjoy pretending to play instrument or be a DJ. The turn table is good quality but you have to push the buttons really hard to register hits. The crossfader control is really flimsy and its hard to tell when its in the middle. I'm playing on beginning difficulty so i can get used to the controls and get the feel of all the tracks. So far, all mixes i played are really good but most songs are repeated couple of times with different mixes/artists. |
Remixing SHOULD be more fun??

As far as innovation...this game trumps ALL other iterations of music games out there. It is truly amazing the boundaries it pushed the PS2 to a PS3|X-Box level with game play...and as far as graphics, those of that own the "Hero" series and/or "Rockband", we can hardly see the graphics of the background or action because we are so focused on Red, Yellow, Orange, Blue and Green??!! The graphics on the PS2 are, however, really good.
So why is this game so boring?
I think that after the first 3-4 songs and the carpal tunnel starts to set in...a wee bit of monotony begins. Unlike Guitar Hero, there is a restraint to your 'expressing yourself'. That IS, unless you have a table set up so you can look like your a DJ. The mixes are SICK. I did find myself groovin' to a few of them...but, as mentioned in the first line...monotony. Guitar Hero, Singstar, Dance Dance Revolution or Rockband...I am jumping all around the house and getting completely into it. With the DJ...I am happy I completed songs with great scores...but with little fanfare.
OVERALL- This game is AWESOME. Concept, execution, innovation, effects, graphics...all crammed into one of the final releases of games for a, pretty much, defunct system. I'm a die hard PS2 owner and realize that Sony needs to push it out the way to make room for PS3...so I am definitely appreciative that Activision gave us one more 'Hero' concept before it said goodbye (See that RockBand??!!) to a STILL, very good gaming system. FUN- however, is average. This could JUST be me, but, I felt like the other 'Hero' franchise is Mom/Grandma's home cooking. The food that NO ONE else can get right like she can. DJ is the restaurant version. You order it, it looks, tastes and smells good...but it doesn't have the same affect nor is the restaurant something you would rush out and tell your friends. |
Not the best game to play

| It has been sitting collecting dust in my sons room for about a year now, so I am assuming it isn't all that exciting to play |
Pretty good game.

| I thought this game was challenging and had some good mixes. I think it could have been better though if some of the mixes didn't include one of the 2 songs previously mixed in the game though - made some of the mixes a little too repetitive for me. Overall though, the visual effects and amount of songs was good. I definitely would recommend this to people that are looking for a different type of music game if you're getting bored with the Guitar Hero / Rock Band setup. |
